Video: Teach for India calls upon India's leaders to join the movement for educational equity.
Teach For India aims to help all children in India receive a high-quality education by engaging a talented group of young leaders to work in the country’s education sector.
Modeled after the success of Teach for America in the United States, Teach For India was established in 2008 to enable promising college graduates and young professionals to help transform India’s education sector. For two years, these leaders serve as teacher Fellows in low-income private and government schools, delivering high-quality education to underprivileged students and gaining relevant skills to address systemic challenges in the country’s education system. Teach For India’s goal is to prepare these fellows to become lifelong leaders working toward educational equity by inspiring and enabling them to pursue careers ranging from politics, policy, and advocacy to education, business and media as avenues of change.
The organization will use Omidyar Network’s grant to expand to new cities and schools in order to accelerate vital improvements in India’s education system and enable a more promising future for millions of students nationwide.
